ASSVMPTIS MDXCIIII Traduzione: A Enea Vizzani, illustre per nascita erudizione ingegno costumi, che professò logica, fisica, medicina teorica e pratica con frutto degli studenti e sua grande lode, le due università degli Artisti questo monumento della loro gratitudine, già da molto tempo dovuto, minimo rispetto agli altissimi meriti, con questo marmo, che fecero quanto più poterono grande, costruirono, con l'assenso del rev. priore Girolamo Ravizio da Correggio e dei presidi e assunti Ottavio Mansi da Lucca e Domenico Ravizio da Correggio e degli assunti Giacomo Arcidiacono da Cremona e Ippolito Masetti dalla Mirandola, l'anno 1594. Translation: To Enea Vizzani, famous for family, learning, intelligence and behaviour, who for a long time professed logic, physics and theoretical and practical medicine, with wonderful benefit to his audience and to his great praise, the two Universities of their own will paid the monumental debt of gratitude owed for a long time with this marble, the most they could do and the least deserved by his great merits, with the agreement of the illustrious lords the reverend Girolamo Ravizio of Correggio, Prior, and of the Presidents and responsible officers, Ottavio Mansi of Lucca and Domenico Ravizio of Correggio, and of the officers responsible, Giacomo Arcidiacono of Cremona and Ippolito Masetti of Mirandola, 1594.
