Traduzione: Guarda, ospite, in questo teatro della sapienza l'unico trofeo d'Astrea degno di Francesco Fioravanti, dottore dell'uno e dell'altro diritto, bolognese. Da circa tre lustri la gioventù lo ascolta attenta, mentre in questo circo pubblico della giurisprudenza percorre gli ordinari spazi delle leggi con mirabile dottrina, e lo loda solerte, dotto, facondo, affabile, laborioso, cospicuo come per la nobiltà della famiglia e della patria così per l'altezza dell'ingegno e del carattere. A lui che, dopo la magistratura tribunizia, merita l'applauso di tutti, il moderatore di questo teatro Ludovico Colombo da Modena, priore dell'università, a nome di tutti, stabilì il luogo del monumento e lo pose l'anno 1645. Translation: In the name of God, look, guest, in this theatre of wisdom at the one trophy of Astrea worthy of Francesco Fioravanti of Bologna, Doctor of both laws. For almost three five-year terms the students heard and distinguished him, progressing through the ordinary course of law, in this public circus of jurisprudence with wonderful happiness of learning. They praised his skill, learning, eloquence, friendliness and industry, as distinguished for the nobility of his family and homeland, as for the excellence of his intelligence and character. From his magistracy of the tribunate he deserved the praise of all. The Moderator of the Theatre, Lodovico Colombo of Modena, Prior of the University established the position of the monument and placed it, in the name of all, 1645.
