Traduzione: Questa lapide discaccia gli animi ingrati. Se di questo morbo dell'ingratitudine sei nero, via di qua, lettore! La lapide è tutt'intera sacra alla gratitudine. Ogni speranza che si potesse fare l'Anatomia s'era, quest'anno, inaridita; falciava la messe di tanto grande utilità la mancanza di cadaveri, l'inclemenza del clima, l'infermità del Lettore da tempo prefissato; deplorava il suo danno la studiosa gioventù. Ma in verità perché rinunziamo alla speranza, noi mortali? Dati improvvisamente due cadaveri e chiamato un altro professore a sostituire il primo, col più grande plauso di tutti i buoni l'Anatomia fu portata a termine.- All'eminentissimo principe e legato Girolamo cardinale Castaldi e al senato di Bologna l'immensa grandezza del beneficio è da riferire; per la cui provvidenza e sotto i cui auspici riempì tre volte il grande teatro il veramente eccellentissimo professore ordinario di filosofia e medicina signor Paolo Mini; il quale, con l'elaborazione del triplice sistema galenico, ippocratico, ermetico avendo scrutato tutti quanti i misteri del corpo umano, traendo dall'oscurità tutta quanta la potenza della natura, richiamò su di sé l'ammirazione dell'una e dell'altra università! A così grande principe, a così grande senato, a così grande professore eterna testimonianza, in questa lapide, di gratitudine posero gl'illustrissimi signori Priori, l'anno 1682, addì 12 di maggio. Translation: In the name of God, this stone drives away ungrateful souls. Reader, if you are stained with this disease of ingratitude, flee from here, for this stone is entirely sacred to gratitude. Every hope that an anatomy could be performed this year was disappointed. The harvest of such great fruit was cut off by the lack of corpses, the inclement weather, the illness of the lecturer who had been engaged. The young people desirous of learning deplored their loss. But truly why should mortals despair? Two corpses were unexpectedly provided and a substitute professor was appointed. The anatomy was completed to the greatest applause of all good men. This great benefaction is due to the eminent and reverend Prince and Legate, Cardinal Girolamo Castaldo and to the illustrious Senate of Bologna. Thanks to their foresight and under their auspices, that truly excellent man, the ordinary Professor of philosophy and medicine, Paolo Mini three times filled the great theatre. After opening up all the secrets of the human body, by the elaboration of the three systems, Galenic, Hippocratic and hermetic, dragging from obscurity all the power of nature he drew on himself the admiration of the two Universities. To such a Prince, to such a Senate, to such a Professor the most illustrious Priors placed in this stone the testimony of eternal gratitude, 12 May 1682.
