Questa pietra, eterna, vinto l'oblio, mostri le fatiche sostenute per l'Archiginnasio, l'amore verso gli scolari, le opere a pro della patria di Antonio Francesco Cavazza dottore dell'uno e dell'altro diritto, interprete ordinario delle leggi, nobile e onorato cittadino: dacchè nel render conto completo di così grande uomo molte volte chiamato e sempre desiderato da molti principi ecclesiastici e secolari a sostenere vari e importanti uffici, verrebbe a mancare l'inchiostro. All'illustre maestro, splendore di virtù, degno d'onore da parte di tutta la repubblica letteraria, le due università dei Giuristi posero, essendo priore Gian Paolo de Porris da Mantova anno 1669. This eternal stone may show the labours for the University, the devotion to his students, the works foresworn by oblivion on behalf of his homeland of Antonio Francesco Cavazza, most excellent Doctor of both laws, most famous ordinary lecturer in law, noble and most honourable citizen. Ink would dry in fully describing reasons concerning such a great man, often called and always desired by many princes, both ecclesiastical and secular, to control different and more important provinces. To a famous teacher, visible for the brightness of virtue of the republic of letters, the two Universities of law [place this monument] while the illustrious Gian Paolo de Porris of Mantua was Prior, 1669 from the virgin birth.
