MDCLX // Traduzione: Ad Andrea Mariani che professò filosofia nel patrio Archiginnasio, e fu chiamato a Pisa e Mantova a cattedre di Medicina: insegnò che i precetti d'Ippocrate si devono rafforzare coi placiti dei filosofi e comprovare con l'esperimento dei sensi; dalla clemenza di Gregorio XV ricevette il privilegio di lettore collegiato dopo 40 anni d'operosità dedicata alle pubbliche lezioni: Francesco Maria Tiscornia di Genova, priore delle due università di filosofia e medicina, lieto pose al dottore emerito l'anno 1660. Translation: To Andrea Mariani who professed philosophy in the University of his homeland and was called to chairs of medicine at Pisa and Mantua. He taught that the precepts of Hippocrates had to be confirmed by the agreement of other philosophers and established by sense experiments. By the clemency of Gregory XV he was given the generous privilege of lecturer of the College while he rested, with the agreement of his superiors, after 40 years of work as public lecturer. Francesco Maria Tiscornia of Genoa, Prior of the two Universities of philosophy and medicine joyfully placed this monument to the emeritus Doctor, 1660 from the virgin birth.
