Gloria a fama perenne sono mercede della virtù e conveniente onore il riconoscimento dei meriti. Questo, o Rota, dichiarano i tuoi scolari che a buon diritto t'è dato, e questa pietra è testimonio per sempre del tuo insegnamento. Tu così bene spieghi gli scritti del vecchio di Coo e di Galeno e metti in luce i significati profondi dell'anatomia, che Chirone e il sapiente Macaone ti sono inferiori ed è inferiore chiunque vale nell'arte medica.15 febbraio 1590. Translation: To the famous Flaminio Rota, most ingenious Doctor of philosophy and medicine, most acute investigator of ordinary anatomy, most expert dissector, the Electors, Deans and Councillors of philosophy and medicine placed this monument in gratitude for a job well done. Glory and fame are the wages of virtue and the proper reward for merit is the possession of prizes. Your former students declare that these prizes rightly belong to you, Rota. This stone is a witness of your teaching for all time. You explain so well the works of Hippocrates and the writings of Galen and so well draw out and reveal the meaning of anatomy that Chirone and the learned Machaon and everyone else of importance in the art of medicine yield place to you. 15 February 1590.
