MDXCVIII Traduzione: A Flaminio Rota, bolognese, professore in questa illustre accademia delle arti e della medicina, che, nella pubblica dissezione dei cadaveri, davanti a foltissimo pubblico di futuri medici, mostrò più che a sufficienza le mirabili forze del suo ingegno e le divine risorse dell'erudizione e dell'eloquenza da nessuno mai abbastanza lodate; e le più difficili obiezioni d'insigni uomini estemporaneamente e prontamente risolse e i problemi dell'autopsia ingegnosamente e sapientemente spiegò in tal modo da procacciarsi il massimo della gloria e dell'onore: la gioventù studiosa, a memoria di così grande merito, fece costruire questo piccolo mausoleo; con l'assenso del priore Gentile Melzi da Rimini e degli elettori Cesare Rosetti da Forlì e Rocco Giordani da Trento, l'anno 1599. Translation: To Flaminio Rota of Bologna, an exceptional man, most famous Professor in this most splendid University of all arts and medicine, who, in the public dissection of corpses before a large audience of medical students, showed sufficiently and more the wonderful power of his intelligence, the divine wealth of his learning and eloquence, never sufficiently praised by anyone, and who so well extemporaneously answered the most difficult objections raised by famous men and so ingeniously and wisely elucidated problems arising from anatomical inspection that he obtained for himself no small quantity of glory and dignity from the Muses. The young people decided that this small mausoleum should be made in memory of such great merit, with the agreement of the Prior Gentile Melzi of Rimini and of the electors Cesare Rosetti of Forlì and Rocco Giordani of Trento, 1599.
