Stupisci d'uno che fu un tempo vice-legato di Ferrara e di Bologna, commissario generale dell'esercito pontificio, governatore di Roma per quattro anni; ammira l'uomo che tenne fortemente e generosamente la questura generale della Camera Apostolica e fu decorato della porpora da Innocenzo X e accolto da Roma con straordinario plauso; venera il legato a latere di Bologna, amante della giustizia e assertore della pubblica quiete: Matteo Santacroce da Ravenna priore dei Giuristi affidava queste cose, di cui canta la Fama, all'eternità, l'anno 1654.
